WA Wilderness gives you a chance to go camping in our Southern Forest National Parks, with everything provided. All you need is your friends or family, your food and your clothes.
Kind of like a pop up hotel room in the forest, next to the river, in a world heritage listed National Landscape.
The WA Wilderness sites identified are located less than 15 minute drive from Pemberton township and are recreation sites managed by Western Australia’s Department of Parks and Wildlife.
Camping at these locations give you many additional benefits from traditional accommodation options; located in a National Park with nature just outside the canvas walls.
WA Wilderness was born from a partnership between Pemberton Discovery Tours and the Department of Parks and Wildlife as part of a drive to get visitors back into the National Parks as "Parks for People" by providing the ability to 'go camping' without having to purchase or borrow equipment.
It means you can literally 'go camping' without having to own, borrow, buy, clean or store camping equipment.
Owners, Graeme & Toni Dearle are finding that customers include visitors from interstate or overseas who are wanting to experience an Authentic Australian camping holiday. You really can't get any more real than this - One step from Nature!
So imagine this: leaving home to arrive in the forest to find your campsite already set up for you – all you need is your clothes and food (optional).
The tents, beds and other products have been specifically chosen to ensure comfort – to give the opportunity of camping to people unable to purchase or store their own supplies and take the stress of the 3 day pre holiday pack and the 5 day post holiday unpack, clean, repair and store part that inevitably comes from DIY camping.
The WA Wilderness product encourages people back into camping with everything fully set up and maintained for your own pleasure; tents, beds, cooking facilities all provided. The camps are located in the National Park near Pemberton and give you the opportunity to be only one step from nature in your very own campsite.
Perfect for families with limited time, or visitors travelling from interstate or overseas. These bookable campsites ensure you have your camping holiday organised! We have two options - check them out when you book as we can either provide bedding (great if you are coming from overseas or interstate) or give you the catered camping experience where everything but the bedding and ensuite is provided (perfect if you already have some equipment and have room in the car).
Currently located on the banks of the Warren River at Drafty's Campground, enjoy the wineries, restaurants and galleries scattered amongst the countryside or simply relax in your own personal piece of paradise!
Deep in the forest, at the heart of the Warren National Park, these cool, green, campsites lie on the banks of the Warren River. Access is 2WD via a gravel, unsealed road.
Drafty’s campsite was a secret destination for campers for many years before it was realised that the site would have to be managed to prevent too many people camping, toileting and damaging the river bank.
The park got its name from the local Ranger who greeted visitors to the campsite with some very tall stories, he was also a much loved neighbour of ours.
The current design includes allocated camp sites, some with fire rings and riverside canoe launch and steps to the swimming holes. There is also a large undercover camp kitchen complete with BBQ, hotplate, preparation benches and sinks it makes a great place to get away – especially with our dining out packages (tent and beds only package)
There are two sides to Drafty’s. Our camps are located on the left hand loop – which contains less camps and is a bit of a walk away from the camp kitchen (we provide you with one anyway!)
