Nestled into the Sellicks foothills as they meet the ocean, amongst our organic/biodynamic Shiraz vineyard and almond grove, and just minutes from some of South Australia’s most spectacular beaches, the Old Chaff Mill Retreat dates back to the mid-nineteenth century, when it provided grains and chaff to bullock teams as they hauled their mighty loads across the picturesque countryside. Gutted by fire a century ago, the building is now reborn as a unique luxury accommodation experience, with a spectacular architecturally-designed fitout celebrating its rich past. The Chaff Mill features two fully private, self-contained, double-storey 5-star luxury suites: “The Granary” and “The Millery”, seperated by lockable, soundproof double fire doors which can also be opened up if you book both suites to give you the run of the building. Relax into your designer Italian armchairs with a complimentary nibble plate of farm produce and bottle of estate-grown biodynamic shiraz. Tumble into your king sized bed for a night of peaceful sleep in country silence, then enjoy a sumptuous breakfast (ingredients provided) the next morning. With over 80 of Australia’s finest cellar doors within 20 minutes' drive, bike riding trails galore, joy flights, whale watching and fine dining right at your doorstep, you’ll wish you never had to leave.

Getting There :Please be aware South Australian vineyards are phylloxera-free. Phylloxera is a tiny insect that destroys vines from the roots up, and with no known treatment, is responsible for destroying some of Europe’s great vineyards. If you are arriving from interstate, especially from NSW or Victoria, please make sure your car tyres and shoes have been throughly cleaned, and avoid wandering around the vineyard unaccompanied. We would be more than happy to give you a tour if you like.
