Yeagarup Hut

Yeagarup Hut is a 4WD-access-only group campsite, booked for exclusive use. When you stay here, you and your group will have the whole place to yourselves. With capacity for up to 40 people, it is the perfect base for schools, outdoor education programs, clubs, family gatherings or friends looking for a private bush retreat.

The hut is located about 45 minutes from Pemberton on the southern edge of the Yeagarup Dunes, inside D’Entrecasteaux National Park. The Yeagarup Dunes are the largest land-locked moving sand dune system in the Southern Hemisphere, and from the hut it is just a short 6 km 4WD drive to the Southern Ocean where the Warren River meets the sea.

What makes it special

Each season offers a different experience. In winter you can rug up and sit around the fire after a day exploring. In spring the dunes and forest come alive with wildflowers. Summer is perfect for swimming, fishing and canoeing, while autumn brings calm, mild weather — ideal for outdoor adventures.

Facilities

The hut has two large bunk rooms at the rear, each with double bunk beds (queen size on the bottom and king single on the top). There is also plenty of space for extra tents and swags, bringing total capacity up to 40 guests.

Facilities also include hot showers with a gas hot water system, a gas BBQ and seasonal wood fire ring, a double kitchen sink with dish drainer, food preparation benches, and two large undercover dining tables with bench seating. Cleaning equipment is provided and all groups are required to leave the hut clean and tidy at departure.

Things to note

Guests must bring their own firewood during fire season (available for purchase locally in Pemberton). The hut is generator-friendly. Limited 12V lighting is supplied for the water pump only and is not suitable for charging or running guest appliances. The hut is located behind a locked boom gate and is secure and secluded.

As the hut is inside a National Park, pets are not permitted and the collection of firewood from the bush is not allowed.

Cooking and dining
Cooking and dining at Yeagarup Hut is all about gathering together after a big day outdoors. There is a gas BBQ, a seasonal wood fire ring, double sink with drainer, food preparation benches and undercover tables for shared meals or evening games. Many groups bring a camp oven or extra gas stove and make the most of traditional campfire cooking when fire restrictions allow.

What you need to bring

The hut is basic and kept clean without extra frills. Guests must bring:

Fishing and activities

The Warren River offers excellent fishing and marroning (in season with permits), while the Southern Ocean provides great beach fishing. A licence is required for freshwater fishing and marroning, but no licence is needed for saltwater beach fishing. Canoeing, bushwalking, 4WD adventures and seasonal wildflower spotting are also popular.

Exclusive-use bookings only

Yeagarup Hut is available for exclusive bookings only — you will not be sharing the site with other groups. This makes it a great choice for schools, outdoor education programs, and family groups. It is also popular for mates’ weekends, father and son adventures, milestone birthdays, small private events, and even intimate weddings.

More than just a campsite, Yeagarup Hut is an adventure hub where your group can relax, reconnect and enjoy one of Western Australia’s most unique wilderness experiences.
